What makes it appropriate? Part 1
Share
If you're on any level of fitness social media, there is a high probability you've seen content surrounding what is appropriate gym attire. Some of the rants are asinine... "women do this, women don't do that, what if men..."
I am genuinely curious now. What do you think is or is not appropriate at the gym?
Let's create this world.
Let's call our gym... Fitness World.
I apologize if that's a real thing. I've never seen or heard it.
Anyway.
Fitness World is is a coed gym - males and females and everything in between. We are inclusive. Our core values are "fitness is for everybody" and "whatever you do, do it safely." We want to provide a safe place for everybody at every fitness level.
Let's say we want to stay on that inclusivity train with our dress code policy. We say "appropriate athletic shoes and attire must be worn at all times." Meaning we don't care if you are wearing Nike or Lululemon or if all you could afford after paying our membership was a ratty pair of sweats from Goodwill.
Full disclosure, 90% of my wardrobe comes from Goodwill. I'm into recycling...
Anyway.
So, Nancy comes in wearing her collegiate athletic shorts (2008 grad, Nancy?!?? Me too! Still have the same shorts!) and a Led Zeppelin t-shirt she didn't get from Shein.
Phyllis comes in wearing a matching Victoria's Secret leggings and sports bra set with a cropped hoodie over the top. (Phyllis! I got mine on Poshmark... you?)
Bill shows up in his Mister Mann running shorts and a sleeveless tee cut with armpit holes cut down to the hem. (Bruh, you look like my brother... but have a great workout!)
Now the twins, Sally and Steven, they show up in oversized Nike sweats, hoodies from Iron Sanctuary, and those giant Beats headphones that scream DON'T SPEAK TO ME! (It's ok y'all. Trauma processing leg day? We're here for you.)
Complaints so far?
